Happy Teachers' Day!
Teachers' Day has never felt this sweet before.. I think it got to do with my last year with the school this year. I don't know for sure which school I'll be transferred to next year (if my transfer gets approved...I think most definitely it will).
A lot of ex-students came by the school, and although half of them were faces I had never seen before, their presence made it more nostalgic. They were peering in from the windows of the staff room, trying to get a glimpse of teachers who've taught them. When they see a familiar face, they go, "Hi, cher! Remember me?" *smilez*
Some came with little gifts, and some with just a simple greeting.. and that's truly enough to make us teachers feel appreciated. I've been teaching little devils for almost 4 years now (my first batch of P1 students are now in primary 4), but actually I'd first made a difference when I did contract teaching almost 7 years ago.
With no prior experience, I was given the heavy task of a form teacher of a P2 class. It was nerve-wrecking stepping into a class of 40 students, not knowing what to expect from them. But the first few minutes made me realise that, I hold the power in my hands... and in turn, they taught me how to teach. I learnt from them, adapting my teaching to them, catering to their needs and yet challenging them. I'm glad that after years since leaving them, they remembered me and got in touch with me through the Internet (thank you so much to technology). *smilez*
By the end of this year, I'll be moving on to another school, again. I don't know what the future holds... I'm just appreciating the present. Teachers' Day this year brings a lot of memories to me and I hope may it be the same to all teachers out there.
To all teachers... Happy Teachers' Day! Be proud of what you are doing. *smilez*
