There is always a first to everything...
And this year, that quote is so very true for me. I realised that so far, during the past 2 and a half months, I've done quite a few firsts. I wonder, is age the cause of it? Or is it the new environment that's the driving force? Probably both. *smilez*
Age... what is there to the numbers? And isn't it the younger you are, the more adventurous you'll be? Whether you're in agreement to the latter, that does apply to some people. On a personal note, I was the introverted girl amongst the few friends I had... always had inferiority complex, basically because of appearance. The confident me started in Secondary 3 when my English teacher recognized my flair for writing and speaking. He made me join oratorical contests where the applause received from my fellow schoolmates made me felt that I was good at something. That became my turning point and as I went through the following years, that confidence grew stronger.
And this year, the new working environment (after more than 4 years in the same place) toughened me up. Just a day there made me realise that I've got to make myself 'visible'. To some, being new meant that it's safer to just blend in or, even better, 'hide' in the shadows. But I've got my own motivation to work towards improving my life. And as I worked hard (really hard), I decided to have a few firsts this year.
So... here's an update of my firsts so far this year:
- Drinking passion tea (Sour! Which is not my usual cuppa).
- Drinking Chamomile tea (Herbal! *Yucks*).
- Watching Disney on Ice Princess Wishes (Disney classics, I like!~).
- Finishing a book series (Twilight... much to my own surprise).
- Buying branded stuff (Adidas pants and shoes, Nike bag, Crocs, etc.).
- Making my own Popiah and eating it! (of course, without the beansprouts and green stuff.. but with the radish in it).
- Working till 7pm and there's no special occasion or event on that day.
Hopefully, my firsts will continue this year and be positive ones too. But even if they're otherwise, (get ready, here's the cliche...) there's always a lesson to be learnt from the negatives. *grinz* So, 'till then!
